The vast majority of people said
that a man should pay on the first date. Among their answers were the following:
“Of course, the man should
pay!”
"I find it unnatural if a girl
pays up for a guy or each pays for him/herself, especially on the first date!”
“Men were born to support women
financially!”
“If he is a true man, he should
pay”.
“When a man pays the bill in the
restaurant, he looks like a gentleman showing his best”.

date? -- 2 people said that each should pay for him/herself
Among the reasons that
participants gave to backup this point of view were the following:
“If each pays for him/herself it
helps to avoid an awkward situation”.
“Nowadays, some ladies can take
advantage of your “Gentlemanhood” by ordering extra-expensive dishes and drinks.
To prevent it, I prefer paying for my own meal and letting the girl pay for hers
too”.

date? – 1 person couldn’t give a definite answer
The last participant of my
interview was female. She could not give a definite answer to the question and
pointed out that it actually depends on many other factors, such as:
- Who was
the initiator of the date?
- What are
financial and social statuses of both people?
- What are
their desires to pay?
If you are still at a loss and
don’t know who should pay the bill on your first date, just keep to the
following rule: The one who asks the other out on the first date should be
responsible for paying.
